A comprehensive theoretical approach for analysing manoeuvring effects on ships by integrating hydrodynamics and power system

Saman Nasiri et al.

Summary: Ship motions impact the propulsion system, leading to power system fluctuations. An integrated model combining ship motion and power system is proposed, highlighting the difference in ship speed estimation during a route change when interconnections are overlooked. A straightforward enhancement for the ship speed control system is suggested, with the effects on the ship power system explored using the developed model.

Coordinated Optimal Energy Management and Voyage Scheduling for All-Electric Ships Based on Predicted Shore-Side Electricity Price

Shuli Wen et al.

Summary: This study proposes a two-stage joint scheduling model to coordinate power generation and voyage scheduling for all-electric ships. It utilizes deep learning for electricity price prediction and designs a hybrid optimization algorithm to solve the multiobjective joint scheduling problem. Simulation results demonstrate the high energy utilization efficiency of the algorithm and the importance of on-shore power for all-electric ships during voyages.

A trip-ahead strategy for optimal energy dispatch in ship power systems

Seyed Iman Taheri et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the optimal operation of diesel generators in marine power systems, particularly the PSV, and proposes a trip-ahead algorithm to determine the best operation schedule of generators for PSV. The results show that the proposed algorithm is more accurate when objective functions are cost and emission compared to genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithm.

A Risk-Averse Adaptively Stochastic Optimization Method for Multi-Energy Ship Operation Under Diverse Uncertainties

Zhengmao Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an optimal coordination method for energy dispatch and voyage scheduling for a renewable-energy-integrated hybrid AC/DC multi-energy ship microgrid under continuous ship swinging. Various uncertainties are managed by an adaptive risk-averse stochastic programming approach to minimize voyage cost and conditional value-at-risk, while chance constraints are introduced to improve thermal service quality. The original nonlinear/nonconvex operation constraints are reformulated for efficient solution using commercial solvers.

An Open-Water Efficiency Based Speed Change Strategy With Propeller Lifespan Enhancement in All-Electric Ships

Saman Nasiri et al.

Summary: This article proposes an improved propeller control strategy for increasing/decreasing the ship's speed, which consists of a maximum acceleration strategy and an efficient operation strategy, ensuring economic efficiency, stability, reliability, and power quality of the ship's power system. By introducing a mechanical index LoL to compare the performance of various speed change strategies, simulations show that the proposed scheme decreases propeller mechanical wear and tear to about 1.8 percent of conventional methods, ultimately increasing its lifespan.
