Study on mixed traffic of autonomous vehicles and human-driven vehicles with different cyber interaction approaches

Xin-Yue Guo et al.

Summary: The emergence of autonomous vehicles will greatly improve traffic efficiency and safety. A mixed traffic model combining autonomous and human-driven vehicles is proposed to study their properties. The results reveal that increasing the communication range for autonomous vehicles can enhance the average traffic flow. However, the impact becomes minimal when the communication range is sufficiently large. The behavior of human-driven vehicles in obtaining multiple preceding vehicles' information significantly affects the meta-stable state of traffic flow.

Using reaction times and accident statistics for safety impact prediction of automated vehicles on road safety of vulnerable road users

Andreas Hula et al.

Summary: The aim of this article is to derive a functional relationship (dose-response curve) between the proportion of automated vehicles on the road (penetration rate) and the expected accident numbers/fatalities of interactions with vulnerable road users. Through analyzing current accident causes and comparing the reaction time of automated vehicles and human drivers, the potential reductions in accidents and fatalities can be estimated and expressed as a relationship between the proportion of automated vehicles and the accident numbers/fatality rates of accidents between motorized vehicles and vulnerable road users.

A novel heat dissipation structure based on flat heat pipe for battery thermal management system

Yueqi Wang et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the thermal performance and heat dissipation of batteries in flying cars. Flat heat pipe technology is proposed to solve the battery thermal issues, and its effectiveness is verified through experiments. The results show that the battery's maximum temperature occurs at the end of the takeoff stage, while the maximum temperature difference appears during the forward flight segment. With suitable heat dissipation structures and control methods for different discharge conditions and environmental factors, the battery's thermal performance can be improved.
