Evaluation of the aerobic biodegradability of process water produced by hydrothermal carbonization and inhibition effects on the heterotrophic biomass of an activated sludge system

M. Langone et al.

Summary: This study assessed the aerobic biodegradability of process water produced by hydrothermal carbonization of dewatered anaerobic digested sludge and its toxicity on the heterotrophic activated biomass of conventional activated sludge systems. The results showed that the process water was highly biodegradable and did not have short-term toxic effects on the activated sludge.

The Utilisation of Solid Fuels Derived from Waste Pistachio Shells in Direct Carbon Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

Magdalena Dudek et al.

Summary: The study investigated the physicochemical properties of carbonaceous materials from pistachio shells and their potential as solid fuels for DC-SOFCs. The findings demonstrated satisfactory conversion rates of biochar during steam gasification, and higher power output when CO2 was introduced. The impact of the Boudouard reaction on the performance of DC-SOFCs was confirmed.
