Coprinopsis cinerea Uses Laccase Lcc9 as a Defense Strategy To Eliminate Oxidative Stress during Fungal-Fungal Interactions

Juanjuan Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that oxidative stress derived from antagonistic compounds secreted by Gongronella sp. w5 played a critical role in the production of laccase Lcc9 in Coprinopsis cinerea during fungal interactions. Lcc9 participates in a defense strategy to eliminate oxidative stress and promote cell growth and development. These findings deepen our understanding of fungal interactions in their natural population and communities.

Effect of Nutritional Factors and Copper on the Regulation of Laccase Enzyme Production in Pleurotus ostreatus

Dinary Duran-Sequeda et al.

Summary: This research investigates the relationship between carbon-nitrogen nutritional factors, copper sulfate, and laccase activity in Pleurotus ostreatus. It reveals that copper regulates the expression of laccase genes, while nutrient-sufficiency conditions control the copper entry into the cell. The findings explain the significant increase in laccase activity with copper addition compared to cultures without copper when using the optimal concentration of yeast extract as a nitrogen source.

The Transcription Factor VpxlnR Is Required for the Growth, Development, and Virulence of the Fungal Pathogen Valsa pyri

Feng He et al.

Summary: In this study, the researchers characterized a transcription factor called VpxlnR and investigated its role in the growth, development, stress response, and virulence of the fungal pathogen Valsa pyri. They found that VpxlnR controls genes involved in signaling pathways and extracellular enzyme activities, and its mutants showed reduced growth, fruiting body formation, and virulence.

ThhspA1 is involved in lacA transcriptional regulation of Trametes hirsuta AH28-2 exposed to o-toluidine

Yanfeng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that ThhspA1 in Trametes spp. regulates the expression of laccase gene LacA, affecting laccase activity. ThhspA1 interacts directly with the lacA promoter region when confronted with o-toluidine, playing a critical role in aromatic-stress-related DNA binding transcriptional factor.

Alternative Splicing of Heat Shock Transcription Factor 2 Regulates Expression of the Laccase Gene Family in Response to Copper in Trametes trogii

Yu Zhang et al.

Summary: White-rot fungi, especially Trametes strains, are the primary source of industrial laccases in bioenergy and bioremediation. Different physicochemical properties and expression patterns of laccase gene family members in Trametes strains have been identified. Our study found that two alternative splicing variants of TtHSF2 play opposite roles in regulating laccase genes expression in response to Cu2+, and TtHSF2 alpha can directly bind to the promoter regions of representative laccase isoenzymes. These results deepen our understanding of alternative splicing of heat shock transcription factors and the regulatory mechanism of the laccase gene family in white-rot fungi.

Copper induces transcription of BcLCC2 laccase gene in phytopathogenic fungus, Botrytis cinerea

U. V. A. Buddhika et al.

Summary: CuSO4 induces the 63.4 kDa laccase in Botrytis cinerea by induced transcription of the BcLCC2 gene, with the highest induction of BcLCC2 transcription at a concentration of 0.6 mM CuSO4. Higher concentrations of CuSO4 inhibited fungal growth. Laccase induction was not observed in the presence of gallic acid (GA).
