Stability of single-atomic-layer-height disconnections on (10(1)over-bar2) twin boundary in Mg

Y. Yue et al.

Summary: The stability of single-atomic-layer-height disconnections in magnesium varies depending on the type of I-1 stacking fault associated with a stacking sequence change. In some cases, a prismatic-basal (PB) disconnection is more stable, while in other cases a basal-prismatic (BP) disconnection is more stable. The stability can also change when there is a shift in the lying plane of the connected I-1 fault.

Interaction between migrating (10<(1)over bar>2) twin boundary and extended ⟨a⟩ dislocations inside twin in pure Mg

Y. Yue et al.

Summary: The interaction between a matrix prismatic < c > edge dislocation and a migrating (10 <(1)over bar > 2) twin boundary is studied. The resulting < a > dislocation tends to detach from or connect to the twin boundary, depending on its slip plane intersection with the compression or extension site of the twin boundary. When connected, the < a > dislocation forms a 90 Shockley partial with a basal-prismatic (BP) or prismatic-basal (PB) two-atomic-layer-height step.

Analysis of Electron Channeling Contrast of Stacking Faults in fcc Materials

Summary: The ECC of stacking faults in [101] single-crystal 316L fcc stainless steel has been evaluated, showing strong dependence on the deviation parameter. This effect influences fault imaging and g.R analysis. The interplay between the stacking fault nature and epsilon-martensite is analyzed through g.R analysis.

Removing basal-dissociated ⟨c plus a⟩ dislocations by {10(1)over-bar2} deformation twinning in magnesium alloys

Xinzhe Zhou et al.

Summary: The study investigates the reactions of {10 (1) over bar2} twin boundaries with dislocations in a Mg alloy subjected to cyclic deformation through atomic-resolution observations and MD simulations. It was found that different types of dislocations exhibit different reactions with {10 (1) over bar2} twin boundaries during cyclic deformation.
