Summary: The canine parvovirus type 2, originating from a feline panleukopenia-like virus, causes enteritis and myocarditis among canids worldwide. In 2020, the virus was identified in pigs in South Dakota, USA, through PCR, sequencing, in situ hybridization, and serology. Genetic analysis suggests spillover from wildlife.

Phylogenetic Characteristics of Canine Parvovirus Type 2c Variant Endemic in Shanghai, China

Summary: In this study, a new CPV-2c variant in Shanghai, China was characterized at the genetic level, with the isolates showing typical amino acid residues and a divergence time estimated using phylogenetic analysis. The VP2 amino acid residues were found to be under strong selection pressure, indicating potential evolutionary changes in CPV-2c strains. This study contributes to understanding the phylogenetic characteristics of the current CPV-2c variant in Shanghai.
