Aluminium Nanoparticles as Efficient Adjuvants Compared to Their Microparticle Counterparts: Current Progress and Perspectives

Ali Nazarizadeh et al.

Summary: Aluminium compounds are commonly used as adjuvants in vaccines due to their improved tolerability. Recent studies have shown that moving from microparticles to nanoparticles can modify the immune responses induced by aluminium-based adjuvants. This review compares the adjuvant properties of aluminium nanoparticles and microparticles in the context of infectious disease vaccines and cancer immunotherapy.

Nano alum: a new solution to the new challenge

Yang Lu et al.

Summary: Alum adjuvant is the preferred choice in vaccine design, but it is not ideal for antigens with poor immunogenicity. Turning conventional microscale alum into nanoscale alum is a new solution that can absorb more antigens and enhance antigen-presenting cell stimulation. Nano alum adjuvant has great potential in vaccine development.
