Low-loading Pt nanoparticles combined with the atomically dispersed FeN4 sites supported by FeSA-N-C for improved activity and stability towards oxygen reduction reaction/hydrogen evolution reaction in acid and alkaline media

Fuling Wang et al.

Summary: A composite bifunctional electrocatalyst Pt@FeSA-N-C consisting of atomically dispersed FeN4 active sites and Pt nanoparticles (NPs) has been successfully prepared for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and hydrogen evolution reactions (HER). Compared with the commercial 20 wt.% Pt/C, Pt@FeSA-N-C possesses a low Pt loading of 5.5 wt.% and exhibits significantly improved ORR and HER activities in acid and alkaline media, even outperforming the commercial catalyst. Furthermore, Pt@FeSA-N-C shows extraordinary stability with no obvious decrease in current density after accelerated durability tests (ADTs).

Sediment Instability Caused by Gas Production from Hydrate-bearing Sediment in Northern South China Sea by Horizontal Wellbore: Evolution and Mechanism

Qingchao Li et al.

Summary: Effective production of natural gas from hydrate-bearing sediments through various strategies is crucial in addressing the current global energy crisis. However, the dissociation of hydrates during gas production can weaken sediment strength and impact reservoir stability. This study thoroughly analyzed gas production, reservoir characteristics, and sediment deformation using the ABAQUS platform. The findings provide insights into the potential for commercial gas hydrate development and lay the groundwork for developing engineering measures to mitigate geological disasters in the hydrate production process.

Preliminary experimental investigation on long-term fracture conductivity for evaluating the feasibility and efficiency of fracturing operation in offshore hydrate-bearing sediments

Qingchao Li et al.

Summary: Gas hydrate is an important resource for future energy supply, but low production efficiency hinders its development. This study explored factors affecting fracture conductivity in hydrate-bearing sediments. It was found that proppant size, concentration, and hydrate saturation can improve fracture conductivity, but closure pressure needs to be appropriately reduced. A multi-factor influence model of fracture conductivity was developed, and the feasibility and efficiency of fracturing operation in hydrate reservoir were numerically evaluated. The results showed that fracturing greatly promoted hydrate dissociation and gas production. Accurately determining fracture conductivity is crucial for productivity prediction in hydrate reservoir.

Numerical model and program development of horizontal directional drilling for non-excavation technology

Jifang Wan et al.

Summary: Horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology, with its significant advantages in trenchless construction, still faces challenges in crossing complex strata. The development of a dual-model software for accurate prediction and calculation of frictional drag and torque can improve the success rate and efficiency of construction in practical engineering.

An Automatic Method for Discontinuity Recognition in Coal-Measure Strata Borehole Images

Sen Yang et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a novel approach to automatically recognizing discontinuities in borehole images taken in coal-measure strata, which combines color information and textural features, implements fuzzy c-means clustering, and searches for predefined patterns for identification. This method is proven to be superior in noise suppression, discontinuity positioning, and recognition completeness.
