Effect of Educational Intervention Based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) on Doing Breast Self-examination in a Sample of Iranian Women

Ali Khani Jeihooni et al.

Summary: This study examined the factors affecting breast self-examination (BSE) in Iranian women and found that the theory of planned behavior (TPB) has an effect on BSE. The study showed that educational intervention based on TPB can effectively promote breast cancer screening behavior such as BSE. The use of TPB constructs in educational texts is recommended to increase the influence of health educators and planners on individuals' screening behavior for breast cancer.

Level of cardiovascular disease knowledge, risk perception and intention towards healthy lifestyle and socioeconomic disparities among adults in vulnerable communities of Belgium and England

Hamid Yimam Hassen et al.

Summary: Knowledge and risk perception of cardiovascular diseases are low in vulnerable communities. Males show a higher intention towards physical activity while females show a higher intention towards a healthy diet. Knowledge and intention vary across different education levels and socio-economic status. Therefore, CVD preventive interventions should take into account socio-economic status and cultural beliefs, and actively involve individuals and communities.

Incorporating motivation and execution into healthy building rating systems based on the theory of planned behaviour (TPB)

Xiaohuan Xie et al.

Summary: This study suggests that healthy building rating systems should take into account occupants' subjective motivations and objective execution. Management tools are more effective than design tools in implementing healthy building strategies. Spatial planning design strategies have a significant impact on promoting healthy behaviors, while intelligent automation may have a negative effect on behavior intentions.

Pointers to Interventions for Promoting COVID-19 Protective Measures in Tourism: A Modelling Approach Using Domain-Specific Risk-Taking Scale, Theory of Planned Behaviour, and Health Belief Model

Timo Ohnmacht et al.

Summary: This study develops a combined model based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour, the Health Belief Model, and the DOSPERT scale to investigate tourists' intentions in implementing protective measures against COVID-19. The model aims to help Swiss tourism practitioners understand tourists' decision-making and acceptance of non-pharmaceutical interventions. A large-scale cross-sectional population study was conducted to validate the model, and significant factors were identified through a simple regression analysis. The findings suggest that low-cost interventions, such as providing free accessories or testing, can increase acceptance by reducing perceived barriers and enhancing perceived behavioral control.

Olivier Lareyre et al.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to explore the characteristics and impact of TPB-based smoking interventions, evaluate methodological quality, and assess theoretical implementation. Studies targeting student populations with minimal health message provision found varying impacts on smoking behavior and TPB variables, with unclear links between intervention techniques and TPB variables in most studies. Recommendations were made for future studies to improve methodological rigor in TPB-based interventions.

Understanding Farmers' Intention towards the Management and Conservation of Wetlands

Naser Valizadeh et al.

Summary: The study analyzed farmers' intention towards participation in wetlands management and conservation using the extended theory of planned behavior. Results showed that moral norms, attitude, subjective norms, and self-concept had positive impacts on intention, and adding these factors to the model increased its explanatory power, supported by fit indicators. The study provides insights for policies to encourage farmers and communities to participate in wetlands management and conservation.
