Regenerative Agriculture-A Literature Review on the Practices and Mechanisms Used to Improve Soil Health

Ravjit Khangura et al.

Summary: Conventional farming practices can lead to soil degradation and a decline in productivity. Regenerative agriculture is proposed as a solution that focuses on soil health and carbon sequestration. Although there is a lack of empirical evidence, studies suggest that practices such as minimum tillage and cover cropping can improve soil carbon and crop yield. Excessive use of synthetic chemicals can lead to biodiversity loss, while integrating livestock with cropping and agroforestry can provide multiple benefits.

Plant-soil-microbe interactions in maintaining ecosystem stability and coordinated turnover under changing environmental conditions

Muhammad Aqeel et al.

Summary: Ecosystem functions depend on reactions occurring at the soil-microbe-plant interface, which can be influenced by environmental changes, especially thermal and water stress. Climate change affects plant and microbial performance, diversity, and community structure, as well as the interactive relationship between plants and soil microbes. Assessing the effects of climate change on soil microbes and plants is crucial for understanding the broader impacts on ecosystems.

Morphological Characterization of Metamorphosis in Stamens of Anemone barbulata Turcz. (Ranunculaceae)

Hongli Chang et al.

Summary: The morphological characteristics of metamorphosis in stamens of Anemone barbulata Turcz. were investigated using morphological and histological analyses. The results showed that stamens undergo a transformation into either white sepaloid organs or more commonly green leaflike structures. The extreme metamorphic stamen exhibited a three-lobed leaflike structure with a long stalk, resembling the morphological characteristics of the plant's normal leaves. The findings provide evidence to support the hypothesis that the flowers of angiosperms were derived from metamorphic leaves in the evolution of floral organs, indicating a progressive development mode.

Identification of Genetic Loci on Chromosome 4B for Improving the Grain Number per Spike in Pre-Breeding Lines of Wheat

Jinpeng Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a collection of 259 pre-breeding lines and elite commercial varieties were investigated for agronomic traits, particularly spike-related traits. The high correlation between GNPS and KNS suggested that a major locus on chromosomes 4BS contributed to the high GNPS trait, and a diagnostic marker was developed for easy selection of large spike trait.

Transcriptomic Characterizations of the Molecular Mechanisms Regulating Lipid Production and Composition in Mortierella alpina in Response to Cold Stress

Jiali Ren et al.

Summary: Cold stress leads to changes in lipid composition in Mortierella alpina. Transcriptome analysis revealed decreased lipid production and identified 1552 differentially expressed genes in response to cold stress. qRT-PCR analysis confirmed the expression patterns of six differentially expressed genes involved in lipid metabolism. Enrichment analysis based on the GO and KEGG databases showed that fatty acid composition is regulated by genes in multiple metabolic pathways.

Molecular Mechanisms Regulating the Oil Biosynthesis in Olive (Olea europaea L.) Fruits Revealed by Transcriptomic Analysis

Jipeng Qu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanisms of olive oil biosynthesis using Nanopore sequencing. Significant differences in oil content were observed between different olive cultivars, and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were enriched in metabolic pathways, stress response, and energy metabolism. A co-expression network of transcription factors and target genes was constructed, providing experimental evidence for improving oil content in olive varieties.

Overexpression of Transcription Factor GmTGA15 Enhances Drought Tolerance in Transgenic Soybean Hairy Roots and Arabidopsis Plants

Zhanyu Chen et al.

Summary: The overexpression of transcription factor GmTGA15 in soybean and Arabidopsis plants enhances tolerance to drought stress by increasing chlorophyll and proline content, and decreasing malondialdehyde content. Transgenic Arabidopsis plants exhibit longer roots and lower mortality rate under simulated drought conditions.
