Regulation of Nitrogen Metabolism, Photosynthetic Activity, and Yield Attributes of Spring Wheat by Nitrogen Fertilizer in the Semi-arid Loess Plateau Region

Zechariah Effah et al.

Summary: Understanding the impact of nitrogen fertilizer on nitrogen metabolism and photosynthetic parameters is crucial for spring wheat production on the Loess Plateau. This study found that optimum nitrogen levels significantly increased photosynthetic parameters, dry matter accumulation, and nitrogen metabolite enzyme activities, resulting in improved grain yield and protein content. However, excessive nitrogen rates only promoted vegetative development and had little effect on yield.

Low light stress promotes new tiller regeneration by changing source-sink relationship and activating expression of expansin genes in wheat

Hong Yang et al.

Summary: Low light stress reduces wheat grain number by causing spike abortion, but the exact mechanism of how plants coordinate this process and tiller regeneration is unknown.

Genetic improvement analysis of nitrogen uptake, utilization, translocation, and distribution in Chinese wheat in Henan Province

Chaojun Peng et al.

Summary: The genetic improvement of wheat cultivars since 1941 has significantly increased grain yield and NUE, mainly due to the increase of NupE and NutE. NutE is the predominant component affecting NUE in HN, while NupE is more important than NutE in LN. The increase in NTE is mainly attributed to increased N accumulation during the stem elongation phase.

Screening of Rice Cultivars for Nitrogen Use Efficiency and Yield Stability under Varying Nitrogen Levels

Weilu Wang et al.

Summary: The excessive use of nitrogen fertilizers has harmed the sustainable development of the earth's environment. Research has found that hybrid rice cultivars demonstrate stable yields and nitrogen use efficiency, making them an efficient candidate for green super rice breeding.

Influence of Nitrogen Fertilizer Rate on Yield, Grain Quality and Nitrogen Use Efficiency of Durum Wheat (Triticum durum Desf) under Algerian Semiarid Conditions

Nadia Boulelouah et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the effects of nitrogen fertilizer application rate on grain yield, grain protein content, and nitrogen use efficiency of durum wheat under Algerian semiarid conditions. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the dry and wet years, with the wet year having higher yields and other studied parameters. The nitrogen application rate of 120 UN is recommended for wheat crops in Algerian semiarid conditions.

Split Nitrogen Application Rates for Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Yield and Grain N Using the CSM-CERES-Wheat Model

Gul Roz Khan et al.

Summary: This study used the CSM-CERES-Wheat model to investigate the influence of different timing of nitrogen application on wheat crop in Peshawar. The results showed that applying 140 kg N/ha in three splits at the sowing, tillering, and booting stages can achieve the highest yield and nitrogen recovery.

The Effect of N Fertilizer Application Timing on Wheat Yield on Chernozem Soil

Marko M. Kostic et al.

Summary: The study focused on the effects of nitrogen fertilization rate and time of application on winter wheat yield and biomass production efficiency. It found that nitrogen rate significantly influenced grain yield and biomass production efficiency, with 120 kg/ha as a critical point. The timing of nitrogen application also had a highly significant impact on grain yield, biomass, and nitrogen use efficiency.
