Identification of miRNAs and their target genes associated with improved maize seed vigor induced by gibberellin

Yunqian Jin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanism associated with maize seed vigor by analyzing small RNAs and degradome sequencing. The results showed that maize seeds contain fewer miRNA families compared with animals, indicating a more synergistic function of miRNAs. Glycan degradation and galactose metabolism were found to be closely correlated with improved maize seed vigor.

Hydro-Electro Hybrid Priming Promotes Carrot (Daucus carota L.) Seed Germination by Activating Lipid Utilization and Respiratory Metabolism

Shuo Zhao et al.

Summary: The novel seed priming technology hydro-electro hybrid priming (HEHP) was found to significantly improve germination index and vigor index of carrot seeds, as well as enhance the consumption and utilization rate of seed storage reserves. This method also activated key metabolic pathways related to germination, such as glycolysis and the citrate cycle, indicating its potential in promoting seed germination efficiency.

Transcription-associated metabolomic adjustments in maize occur during combined drought and cold stress

Qianqian Guo et al.

Summary: The study emphasizes the multifaceted response of plants to drought and cold stress, highlighting physiological and genetic changes that occur during acclimation to these stresses; plants experience a decline in photosynthetic capacity under both drought and cold stress, but can recover from the stress, with internal ABA playing a key role in plant acclimation to cold.
