The epidemiology of wild mushroom poisoning in Israel

Summary: Wild mushroom picking has become popular in Israel, but there are also many poisonous species. A retrospective study showed that only 4% of exposures were caused by mushrooms, with males and young children being the most affected. Most children below 6 years old did not develop symptoms of toxicity.

Epidemiological analysis of wild mushroom poisoning in Zhejiang province, China, 2016-2018

Summary: This study focused on the characteristics of wild mushroom poisoning in Zhejiang province, China, with 429 reported cases from 2016 to 2018. The incidence rate was 0.2526% and the case fatality rate was 0.47%. Digestive symptoms were universal, and the peak period of poisoning was from June to October annually. High-incidence areas were identified in Quzhou and Lishui, both with mild climate, more mountains, and abundant rainfall, showing a state of high-incidence aggregation.

Summary: This study analyzed mushroom poisoning cases in Thailand between 2003 and 2017 and found that seasonality and rainfall were associated with the cases. The results showed that in rural areas of Thailand, there were more cases of mushroom poisoning among mature adults who were agriculturists.
