Landscape Effects on the Cabbage Seedpod Weevil, Ceutorhynchus obstrictus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), and on Its Parasitoid, Trichomalus perfectus (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae), in Canola

Marie D'Ottavio et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the influence of landscape on infestation and abundance of cabbage seedpod weevil (CSW) and parasitism of Trichomalus perfectus. The results showed that roads and cereal crops had a positive impact on CSW, while landscape diversity, crop edge density, hay/pastures, and soybean crops positively influenced T. perfectus parasitism. These findings will help determine the potential introduction of T. perfectus in western Canada and the optimal landscape composition and configuration required for success.
