A novel approach towards high-performance image compression using multilevel wavelet transformation for heterogeneous datasets

Summary: Multimedia data, such as images, audios, videos, and graphics, require compression due to their large size. Existing image compression techniques are well-suited for grayscale images, but few are effective for color image compression. To address this issue, the Bayer wavelet transform (BWT) algorithm is proposed, which directly compresses RGB images, suppresses noise, and reduces storage requirements. The algorithm outperforms existing techniques in terms of accuracy, compression ratio, and computational time complexity.

The improved wavelet threshold function exhibits smoothness and continuity near the threshold. By replacing hard or soft wavelet threshold with the improved wavelet threshold, it can eliminate the generation of fake self-mixing interference peaks and the loss of self-mixing interference peaks.
