A Comprehensive Review of the Oil Flow Mechanism and Numerical Simulations in Shale Oil Reservoirs

Zhiyu Li et al.

Summary: The pore structure of shale oil reservoirs is complex and understanding the oil flow mechanism is crucial for optimizing development plans. This review discusses the occurrence of shale oil and its flow in both the inorganic and organic matrices, as well as simulation models for microflow and macroflow in shale oil production. Accurate description of shale oil occurrence and flow is important for numerical simulations and future development of shale oil reservoirs.

Study of void space structure and its influence on carbonate reservoir properties: X-ray microtomography, electron microscopy, and well testing

Dmitriy A. Martyushev et al.

Summary: The study focuses on carbonate reservoirs in three oil fields in Perm Krai, Russia, and finds that their pore networks exhibit complex structures and heterogeneous distributions, which are crucial for accurately assessing the microscopic pore structure characteristics of carbonate rocks and their influence on reservoir properties.

Pore-fracture network alteration during forced and spontaneous imbibition processes in shale formation

Yijin Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, forced and spontaneous imbibition tests were conducted on shale samples from Longmaxi Formation, Sichuan Basin. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer was used to monitor the changes in pore and fracture networks during the imbibition process. Results showed that imbibition led to an increase in total porosity, with forced imbibition affecting large pores more significantly and spontaneous imbibition affecting small pores more significantly.
