Advances in the Mechanistic Understanding of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles' Radiosensitizing Properties

Indiana Ternad et al.

Summary: In this study, the radiosensitizing effect of two types of iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) on A549 lung carcinoma cells was investigated. The results demonstrated that the nanoparticles enhanced the cell's sensitivity to radiation by inhibiting detoxification enzymes. This highlights the biological role, as well as the physical properties, of nanoparticles in radiosensitization.

Choline phosphate lipid as an intra-crosslinker in liposomes for drug and antibody delivery under guard

Shengran Li et al.

Summary: Using a bio-membrane mimetic choline phosphate lipid (CP-lip) to intra-crosslink liposomes can greatly improve their stability, biocompatibility, and anti-protein adsorption. This method is applicable to all liposomes, solving the key problem of liposome disintegration, thereby enhancing the protection of drugs and antibodies by liposomes in vivo.

Improved detection of reactive oxygen species by DCFH-DA: New insight into self-amplification of fluorescence signal by light irradiation

Daliang Yu et al.

Summary: The study identified factors influencing the detection process of ROS by DCFH-DA and developed a new method with higher stability and sensitivity. A significant increase in fluorescence signal of DCFH-DA solution under light irradiation was observed, leading to the development of a reliable and sensitive ROS detection method. This method successfully detected ROS in HeLa cells induced by H2O2 and plastic nanoparticles, providing new insights into the proportional increase of fluorescence signal under light irradiation.
