Clinical and pathological analysis of giant cell tumor of bone with denosumab treatment and local recurrence

Kenta Hayashida et al.

Summary: This study assessed the relationship between clinical and pathological features of giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) that recurred after denosumab treatment. The results showed that while denosumab can prevent bone resorption in GCTB, it cannot reduce the local recurrence. The clinical and pathological findings after denosumab treatment were almost the same as those before treatment, suggesting that the changes caused by denosumab in GCTB are reversible.

Summary: This study investigates the effectiveness and impact of ultra-short course neo-adjuvant denosumab treatment for sacral giant cell tumor of bone. The results show that the ultra-short course group had better outcomes in terms of denosumab dosage and time to surgery, with similar radiological and histological responses. This study provides new insights for the treatment of sacral giant cell tumor of bone.

Objective response of denosumab for multiple pulmonary metastases from giant cell tumor of bone: A case report and review of the literature

Ikuo Kudawara et al.

Summary: A 23-year-old man received denosumab therapy for histologically proven multiple pulmonary metastases from a giant cell tumor of the distal femur after surgery. Pulmonary metastases decreased in size six months after the initial denosumab administration, with no observed toxicities such as hypocalcemia and osteomyelitis of the jaw during treatment. Denosumab therapy resulted in partial response and disease stability for pulmonary metastases within five years.
