The guideline covers screening, diagnosis, staging and follow-up.

Summary: Lymph node (LN) metastasis is the most common form of metastasis in gastric cancer (GC) and the number of LN metastases is an important indicator for prognosis. Examined LN (ELN) count, obtained through curative gastrectomy, is used to evaluate the extent of LN metastasis. This review discusses factors affecting ELN count, including individual and tumor factors, intraoperative dissection factors, postoperative sorting factors, and pathological examination factors. Fine LN sorting and regional LN sorting are important techniques for harvesting LNs.

Lymph node yield in the pathological staging of resected nonmetastatic colon cancer: The more the better?
