Titanium-Nitride-Oxide-Coated vs Everolimus-Eluting Stents in Acute Coronary Syndrome 5-Year Clinical Outcomes of the TIDES-ACS Randomized Clinical Trial

Frederic Bouisset et al.

Summary: TiNO-coated stents have better strut coverage and lower intimal-hyperplasia than drug-eluting stents. It is important to study the long-term outcomes of ACS patients treated with TiNO-coated stents.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Coronary Syndromes A Review

Deepak L. Bhatt et al.

Summary: This review discusses the current evidence on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, management, and prognosis of acute coronary syndromes (ACS). ACS is a sudden reduction in blood supply to the heart and includes ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), non-STEMI (NSTEMI), and unstable angina. Each year, more than 7 million people are diagnosed with ACS worldwide. Prompt intervention, such as primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for STEMI patients and invasive coronary angiography with revascularization for high-risk NSTE-ACS patients, is associated with reduced mortality.

Effect of Alirocumab Added to High-Intensity Statin Therapy on Coronary Atherosclerosis in Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction The PACMAN-AMI Randomized Clinical Trial

Lorenz Raber et al.

Summary: Among patients with acute myocardial infarction, the addition of biweekly subcutaneous alirocumab to high-intensity statin therapy resulted in significantly greater regression of coronary plaques in non-infarct-related arteries after 52 weeks. Further research is needed to understand whether alirocumab improves clinical outcomes in this population.

GRADE Guidance 34: update on rating imprecision using a minimally contextualized approach

Linan Zeng et al.

Summary: This study aims to provide updated guidance on the rating of imprecision for users of the GRADE system. The study suggests aligning imprecision criteria based on thresholds and confidence intervals, and recommends rating down two or three levels when the confidence interval crosses the thresholds of interest.

Use of Thrombus Aspiration for Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome: Insights From the Nationwide J-PCI Registry

Taku Inohara et al.

Summary: In patients with acute coronary syndrome, the use of thrombus aspiration (TA) during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has shown to be associated with higher rates of successful PCI in ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction cases without affecting in-hospital mortality. However, caution should be taken when using TA in less common indications such as non-ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction and unstable angina, as it may lead to increased rates of in-hospital death.

Summary: New-generation drug-eluting stents (DES) reduce the risk of cardiac death or myocardial infarction compared to bare-metal stents (BMS) for percutaneous coronary intervention, regardless of the initial presentation of chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) or acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

The changing landscape of atherosclerosis

Peter Libby

Summary: Emerging evidence has led to a significant evolution of concepts related to atherosclerosis, with a shifting risk profile that is no longer limited to specific regions or demographics. Recent research has highlighted new risk factors and mechanisms underlying atherosclerosis, opening doors to potential therapeutic interventions for this widespread disease.
