Myocardial bridging is significantly associated to myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries

Anthony Matta et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the relationship between myocardial bridging (MB) and myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA). The results showed that MB is a risk factor for MINOCA, with MINOCA mainly presenting as non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Further investigation for MB in MINOCA cases, especially in non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients, seems necessary.

Myocardial Bridge Bypass Graft: A Novel Surgical Procedure for Extensive Myocardial Bridges

Jin-Zhou Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel surgical procedure, MB bypass grafting, utilizing the left internal mammary artery to connect the proximal and distal ends of myocardial bridges (MBs), showed promising results in a patient with extensive MB. The patient recovered well postoperatively and the graft remained patent after 3 months.

Impact of Diastolic Vessel Restriction on Quality of Life in Symptomatic Myocardial Bridging Patients Treated With Surgical Unroofing: Preoperative Assessments With Intravascular Ultrasound and Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography

Takehiro Hashikata et al.

Summary: Despite optimal medical therapy, myocardial bridge (MB) can lead to life-limiting symptoms in some patients. In patients with symptomatic MB undergoing surgical unroofing, preoperative IVUS and coronary computed tomography angiography can help identify determinants of preoperative symptoms and improvements in symptoms after surgery. Vessel restriction in diastole, rather than the degree of systolic compression or extent of the MB, appears to be the primary determinant of clinical symptoms and quality of life improvement following surgical unroofing.

Myocardial Bridging: Diagnosis, Functional Assessment, and Management

David Sternheim et al.

Summary: Myocardial bridging is a congenital coronary anomaly where a segment of the epicardial coronary artery passes through the myocardium. While traditionally considered benign, more attention is now being focused on specific subsets of MB associated with ischemic symptoms. The advent of contemporary imaging modalities has greatly improved understanding of the dynamic pathophysiology of MB.

Functional Assessment of Myocardial Bridging With Conventional and Diastolic Fractional Flow Reserve: Vasodilator Versus Inotropic Provocation

Srdjan B. Aleksandric et al.

Summary: The study found that the use of diastolic-FFR during dobutamine provocation is more reliable for assessing myocardial bridging compared to conventional FFR, providing better functional significance of MB in relation to stress-induced myocardial ischemia.

CT Fractional Flow Reserve for the Diagnosis of Myocardial Bridging-Related Ischemia: A Study Using Dynamic CT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging as a Reference Standard

Yarong Yu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the diagnostic performance of CT fractional flow reserve (CT-FFR) for myocardial bridging-related ischemia using dynamic CT myocardial perfusion imaging (CT-MPI) as a reference standard. Delta CT-FFRsystolic showed the largest area under the curve in identifying myocardial bridging-related ischemia, with high sensitivity and negative predictive value. Myocardial bridging showing positive CT-FFR results requires further evaluation.
