Transcription factor BES1 interacts with HSFA1 to promote heat stress resistance of plants

Pablo Albertos et al.

Summary: Heat stress is a significant environmental stress that can hinder plant growth and development. A study has shown that brassinosteroids (BRs) play a role in the heat stress response in plants and interact with heat shock transcription factors (HSFs) to enhance their activity. These findings expand our understanding of the plant's heat stress response and highlight the involvement of BES1 in heat stress signaling.

Interaction of BES1 and LBD37 transcription factors modulates brassinosteroid-regulated root forging response under low nitrogen in arabidopsis

Shuli Chai et al.

Summary: Brassinosteriod (BR) plays important roles in the regulation of plant growth, development, and environmental responses. The study reveals that BES1 and LBD37 antagonistically regulate the root foraging response under low nitrogen conditions. BES1 positively regulates key genes required for nitrate uptake and signaling, while negatively regulating repressors of the nitrate signaling pathway.

COP1 dynamics integrate conflicting seasonal light and thermal cues in the control of Arabidopsis elongation

Cristina Nieto et al.

Summary: As summer approaches, plants experience enhanced light inputs and warm temperatures, resulting in opposite morphogenic impacts. A mathematical model incorporating the known interactions of regulators PHYTOCHROME B (phyB), EARLY FLOWERING 3 (ELF3), and CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1 (COP1) accurately predicts and recapitulates the thermal growth of different plant lines. The study reveals that COP1 acts at temperature signaling only during daytime and plays an essential role in conveying the thermosensory function of phyB and ELF3. This thermal model could help identify the best allelic combinations to enhance climate change resilience in different latitude crops.

Summary: Plant heat shock factors (HSFs) are encoded by large gene families and are involved in responses to high temperatures and various abiotic stresses. They are regulated primarily at the transcript level, with alternative splicing and post-translational modifications providing additional variability. Plant HSFs participate in a complex network of protein-protein interactions and play crucial roles in transcriptional control.
