Preparation and application of ZnFe2O4@SiO2-SO3H, as a novel heterogeneous acidic magnetic nanocatalyst for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivative

Hamid Aghavandi et al.

Summary: In this work, a novel and green nanomagnetic solid acid catalyst, ZnFe2O4@SiO2-SO3H, was synthesized and identified. The catalyst contains sulfuric acid catalytic sites on the surface of ZnFe2O4 magnetic nanoparticles. The synthesized catalyst was accurately characterized by various physicochemical methods. It was found to have excellent catalytic activity for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran and DHQZ in ethanol solvent, with yields of 86-97%. The heterogeneous nature of the catalyst was confirmed and its recyclability was demonstrated with negligible loss of activity (97-92%). The amount of sulfamic acid in ZnFe2O4@SiO2-SO3H was determined through back titration.

Removal of humic acid from aqueous solution by Fe3O4@L-arginine magnetic nanoparticle: kinetic and equilibrium studies

Seyedeh Mahtab Pormazar et al.

Summary: A Fe3O4@L-arginine magnetic nanoparticle was synthesized and used to adsorb humic acid from aqueous solution. The results showed that increasing the adsorbent dose, contact time, and temperature improved the efficiency of humic acid removal, while increasing the initial concentration of humic acid, ionic strength, and pH decreased the efficiency of removal. Under optimal conditions, the highest removal efficiency of humic acid was 67.23% at a 0.5 g/L adsorbent dose and 96.4% at a 2 g/L adsorbent dose. The adsorption of humic acid on Fe3O4@L-arginine followed Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetics.
