A cocklebur-like sulfur host with the TiO2-VOx heterostructure efficiently implementing one-step adsorption-diffusion-conversion towards long-life Li-S batteries

Kedi Cai et al.

Summary: A cocklebur-like sulfur host with the TiO2-VOx heterostructure (CTVHs) for long-life Li-S batteries is fabricated via dual-strategy of heterogeneous interface and defect engineering, which ensures rapid diffusion of LiPSs to VOx. The CTVHs/S cathode exhibits favorable kinetics, better cyclability, and an outstanding discharge capacity, with a slow capacity decay rate of 0.029% per cycle and nearly 100% coulombic efficiency over 1400 cycles. This proposed strategy shows great potential in promoting the adsorption-conversion of LiPSs for long-life Li-S batteries.

A Comparison between Solution-Based Synthesis Methods of ZrO2 Nanomaterials for Energy Storage Applications

Maria Leonor Matias et al.

Summary: The present study focuses on the synthesis of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) nanomaterials using hydrothermal method and solution combustion synthesis assisted by microwave irradiation. Both synthesis techniques result in ZrO2 powders with a mixture of tetragonal and monoclinic phases. The thermal behavior and optical properties of the ZrO2 nanoparticles are investigated, and the study also demonstrates the potential application in energy storage devices.

Superfast ice crystal-assisted synthesis of NiFe2O4 and ZnFe2O4 nanostructures for flexible high-energy density asymmetric supercapacitors

Shubhangi B. Bandgar et al.

Summary: A rapid and low-cost ice crystal-assisted precipitation method was used to synthesize self-assembled structures of nickel ferrite nanoparticles and zinc ferrite nanorods, enhancing the overall performance of supercapacitors. The porous void-rich structures of the nanoparticles and nanorods provided excellent charge storage properties, with high specific capacities and durability demonstrated in the electrodes. Additionally, a flexible asymmetric supercapacitor device fabricated from these materials showed superhigh energy density and excellent long-term stability.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of calcination temperatures on the structural and capacitance properties of Zr-MOFs used as electrode materials for supercapacitors. By preparing MIP-202 and MIP-203 MOFs through solvothermal methods and subjecting them to different heat treatments, the researchers were able to confirm the structural changes through various analyses. The electrochemical properties of the materials were compared, with MIP-202 (350) showing the best performance in terms of electrochemical efficiency.

Achieving wide potential window and high capacitance for supercapacitors using different metal oxides (viz.: ZrO2, WO3 and V2O5) and their PANI/graphene composites with Na2SO4 electrolyte

Prasenjit Haldar

Summary: Tuning the morphology of metal oxides is a common strategy to tailor their electrochemical response. Coating metal oxides with polyaniline and/or graphene can enhance electronic conductivity and charge collection. The study demonstrates that metal oxide/PANI/Graphene composites exhibit higher capacitance values and extended operating potential windows for practical applications.
