Effect of Voltage on the Microstructure and High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance of Micro-Arc Oxidation Coatings on AlTiCrVZr Refractory High-Entropy Alloy

Zhao Wang et al.

Summary: Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technology was used to prepare ceramic coatings on AlTiCrVZr alloy, and the effects of voltage on the microstructure and high-temperature oxidation resistance of the coatings were studied. Higher voltage resulted in smoother and denser coatings with decreased surface roughness and increased thickness. The composition of the coatings primarily consisted of Al2O3, TiO2, Cr2O3, V2O5, ZrO2, and SiO2. After oxidation at 800 degrees C, the high-temperature oxidation resistance of the coatings prepared at different voltages improved, with the coating prepared at 420 V showing the best resistance after 20 hours of oxidation.

Preparation of Coating on the Titanium Surface by Micro-Arc Oxidation to Improve Corrosion Resistance

Yulong Hu et al.

Summary: The study found that MAO treatment can significantly enhance the corrosion resistance of TA2. However, increasing the thickness of the MAO coating does not further improve the corrosion resistance. Additionally, due to the increase in effective surface area, the MAO treatment may enhance the cathode action of TA2, promoting the corrosion of more negative metals in a galvanic cell.
