Dielectric Characterization of Electromagnetic Mixing Model Assisted Optimization Derived Heterogeneous Composites for Stealth Technology

Nikunj Goyal et al.

Summary: This contribution presents the numerical and experimental characterization of heterogeneous stealth composites using electromagnetic (EM) mixing model-assisted optimization. The shuffled frog leaping algorithm (SFLA) fused with the EM mixing model was used for the optimal design of the composite. Multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and titanium-di-oxide (TiO2) were used to develop the heterogeneous composites, which were then characterized using frequency-dependent dielectric measurements in the X-band. The measured results were compared with the Maxwell Garnett (MG) effective medium model, and strong agreement was observed.

Effects of Substrates on Thin-Film Growth of Nickel Zinc Ferrite by Spin-Spray Deposition

Hai Liu et al.

Summary: A comprehensive analysis was conducted to investigate the influence of the substrate on the microstructure and magnetic properties of ferrite thin films produced by spin-spray deposition. The results showed that thermal conductivity of the substrate played a significant role in determining the thin-film growth, and polyimide was found to be the more suitable substrate with improved magnetic properties.

Full dynamic corrections to the Maxwell Garnett mixing formula and corresponding extensions beyond the dipolar approximation

Augusto Garcia-Valenzuela et al.

Summary: This article derives a dynamic extension to the Maxwell Garnett mixing formula for the effective refractive index of a random system of particles, accounting for scattering even at moderate densities. The formula exhibits dependent-scattering effects, most pronounced in colloidal systems with small non-absorbing particles. An approximation for the effective refractive index of systems with large particles with a multipolar electromagnetic response is also provided. The formula reduces to previously established approximations in appropriate limits, and shows excellent agreement with experimental data.

Synthesis and magnetic studies of pure and doped NiZn ferrite films using Sol gel method

Sushma Kotru et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Co and Cu doping on the magnetic properties of Nickel Zinc ferrite films. The results showed that Co0.2 doping increased coercivity, while Cu0.2 doping reduced coercivity. XRD confirmed the formation of single-phase spinel structure, and annealing at 600 degrees C resulted in the highest saturation magnetization values for the films.

3D printing of NiZn ferrite architectures with high magnetic performance for efficient magnetic separation

Xiangxia Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, NiZn ferrites with mesh structures were successfully fabricated by 3D printing accompanied by the solid-state reaction. The influence of compositions on the structural and magnetic properties of NiZn ferrites was investigated, and it was found that the saturation magnetization was significantly enhanced for NiZn ferrites with a zinc concentration of 0.4. The study also demonstrated the potential of using NiZn ferrites with intricate mesh structures for magnetic separation.

Moire-driven electromagnetic responses and magic angles in a sandwiched hyperbolic metasurface

Yi Liu et al.

Summary: Recent moire configurations provide a new platform for tunable and sensitive photonic responses. This study introduces a novel moire structure with unprecedented capability in the manipulation of light-matter interactions. The experiment and simulation results reveal hybridization of eigenmodes, drastic manipulation of surface states, and magic angle properties by controlling the mutual rotation angles between two isolated layers.

Breakdown of Maxwell Garnett theory due to evanescent fields at deep-subwavelength scale

Ting Dong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the breakdown of the Maxwell Garnett theory in deep-subwavelength all-dielectric composite materials, revealing the presence of evanescent fields and proposing a correction method to predict position-dependent characteristics. The correction method allows for controlling the macroscopic properties of composite materials without changing their composition, offering a new approach beyond the traditional Maxwell Garnett theory.
