Polyimides containing cycloaliphatic units and chalcogen atoms as alternative shielding coatings for solar cells

Andreea Irina Barzic et al.

Summary: This work proposes alternative materials for shielding solar cells with low weight and better flexibility, which are four polyimides containing cycloaliphatic units and chalcogen atoms. The focus is on the rheological properties of the polyimide solutions and obtaining uniform coatings through tape casting. The shear deformation response of the solutions is influenced by the structural characteristics of each polymer sample. The flow index and consistency of the solutions are assessed using the Ostwald model.

Rheological and optical response of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose under variable temperatures for optical switching based on thermo-optical effect

Iuliana Stoica et al.

Summary: This study investigates the rheological and optical response of HPMC under temperature variations, revealing correlations between flow behavior, film thickness uniformity, and surface parameters like roughness and texture. The study also reports the refractive properties of HPMC for the first time and observes changes in optical dispersion parameters with temperature increase. The thermo-optic coefficient of HPMC is found to be larger than other polymers, making it suitable for optical switching based on thermo-optical effect.

The Influence of the Synthesis Method on the Characteristics of BaTiO3

G. N. Almeida et al.

Summary: In this study, barium titanate powders were synthesized using sol-gel and sol-precipitation methods. The microstructural and dielectric properties of the samples prepared by both methods were compared. The sol-gel derived samples exhibited an increase in the tetragonal phase and dielectric constant with increasing temperatures, while the sol-precipitation derived sample was cubic. The presence of BaCO3 was more evident in the sol-precipitation derived sample, and the band gap of the products did not show significant variation with the synthesis method.

Hydroxyethyl cellulose/boron nitride nanosheet films coated with silver nanowires for electronic packaging applications

J. Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) and boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) films (HB) coated with silver nanowires (AgNWs) were prepared to achieve one side conduction and the other side insulation and heat conduction. The HB/AgNWs1.0 film with high conductivity, tensile strength, and thermal conductivity was used as a bending sensor. The resistance of the film increased with greater curvature due to the distance between AgNWs in the conductive network. The combination of AgNWs and HB composite film allowed the sensor to function normally for multiple cycles and the BNNS effectively removed the heat generated by the AgNWs, showing potential in electronic packaging.
