Just as Tall on Testosterone; a Neutral to Positive Effect on Adult Height of GnRHa and Testosterone in Trans Boys

Lieve Anne Willemsen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of puberty suppression and gender-affirming hormone treatment on growth and adult height in transgender boys. The results show that during puberty suppression, growth slows down and bone maturation decelerates, while during gender-affirming hormone treatment, growth accelerates. Despite having similar adult height standard deviation scores compared to baseline, puberty suppression and gender-affirming hormone treatment do not negatively impact adult height in transgender boys and may even result in slightly taller adult height.

Transgender Girls Grow Tall: Adult Height Is Unaffected by GnRH Analogue and Estradiol Treatment

Lidewij Sophia Boogers et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of GnRHa and GAHT on growth and the efficacy of growth-reductive treatment. The results show that GnRHa decelerates growth velocity, while GAHT accelerates it. Adult height after regular-dose treatment is slightly lower than predicted at the start of GnRHa, but not significantly different from target height.

Adjusting for Pubertal Status Reduces Overweight and Obesity Prevalence in the United States

Eric Morris Bomberg et al.

Summary: The study found that adjusting body mass index for pubertal status significantly reduced the prevalence of overweight and obesity among non-Hispanic white, Mexican American, and non-Hispanic black youths. Adjusting for puberty status may be important for interpreting youth's weight status and obesity management.

Growth, growth potential, and influences on adult height in the transgender and gender-diverse population

Stephanie A. Roberts et al.

Summary: The article reviews the factors contributing to final adult height and how it may be affected in TGD youth. Further research is needed to understand the impact of growth and final adult height on the lived experience of TGD individuals. It also discusses how medical transition can be modified to help them achieve their goals.
