Strategies to improve solid state anaerobic bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass: an overview

Kunwar Paritosh et al.

Summary: Solid state anaerobic digestion (SSAD) of lignocellulosic biomass offers advantages over liquid state anaerobic digestion (LSAD) in terms of higher organic loading rates, lower energy demand, and higher methane productivity. However, challenges such as carbon to nitrogen ratio imbalance and nutrient balance need to be addressed through pretreatment procedures and additives. Leachate recirculation can also impact SSAD of agricultural stubbles.
