Effect of a single water molecule on CH2OH + 3O2 reaction under atmospheric and combustion conditions

Manas Ranjan Dash et al.

Summary: This study investigated the rate coefficients of CH2OH reacting with O3 and found that the presence of a water molecule affects the product distribution. The calculated rate coefficients were consistent with experimental values and revealed the impact of a water molecule on the reaction mechanism.

Effect of Water and Formic Acid on •OH + CH4 Reaction: An Ab Initio/DFT Study

Mohamad Akbar Ali et al.

Summary: In this study, the catalytic effect of formic acid (HCOOH) and water molecules on an important atmospheric reaction was investigated using ab initio/DFT method combined with statistical rate theory. The results showed that the effect of HCOOH and water on the reaction rate is significant when the concentration is not considered, but when the concentration is taken into account, the total effective reaction rate constants are smaller.

Catalytic Effect of CO2 and H2O Molecules on •CH3 + 3O2 Reaction

Mohamad Akbar Ali et al.

Summary: The introduction of CO2 and H2O molecules in the (CH3)-C-center dot + O-3(2) reaction enhances the thermodynamic favorability and affects the rate constant. Single CO2 and H2O molecules can accelerate the reaction at high temperatures and slow it down at low temperatures.

Effect of ammonia and water molecule on OH+CH3OH reaction under tropospheric condition

Mohamad Akbar Ali et al.

Summary: The study calculated rate coefficients for OH+CH3OH and OH+CH3OH (+X) (X=NH3, H2O) reactions using CVT theory, showing that hydrogen atom abstraction at the CH3 position dominates in both free and catalyzed reactions. The rate coefficients for reactions with NH3 and H2O were found to be significantly smaller than the free reaction. The catalytic effect of a single ammonia or water molecule on the OH+CH3OH reaction is predicted to have no effect under tropospheric conditions.
