Impacts of future climate and land cover changes on landslide susceptibility: regional scale modelling in the Val d'Aran region (Pyrenees, Spain)

Marcel Hurlimann et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the impacts of future climate and land use changes on landslides susceptibility in the Val d'Aran region using climate models and land use software. The results indicated significant environmental changes in the future, with increased rainfall and changes in land cover. However, the overall stability condition is expected to improve due to the combined effects of land use changes outweighing the negative influence of rainfall changes.

Bias correction of temperature and precipitation over China for RCM simulations using the QM and QDM methods

Yao Tong et al.

Summary: Two different bias correction methods, quantile mapping and quantile delta mapping, were applied to simulated temperature and precipitation data in China. The study found that the QDM method effectively preserved temperature change signals, while both methods produced greater magnitude of projected increase in precipitation, especially QDM. The effects of bias correction were shown to be variable- and season-dependent.

Future Precipitation Extremes in China under Climate Change and Their Physical Quantification Based on a Regional Climate Model and CMIP5 Model Simulations

Peihua Qin et al.

Summary: This study predicts the future changes in precipitation extremes in different regions of China using various models and simulation data. The results suggest that precipitation extremes are expected to increase with rising temperatures, with some regional variations. The increasing rates of change in precipitation extremes may further escalate in the mid-future and far-future periods in certain regions of China.

Hydrological projections in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River Basin from 2020 to 2050

Ya Huang et al.

Summary: Understanding the impacts of climate change on runoff in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, including changes in precipitation, temperature, and river flows, reveals a tendency towards warmer and drier conditions in the eastern UYRB and warmer and more humid conditions in the western UYBR. Decreased precipitation and increased temperatures are forecasted, leading to reduced snowmelt runoff contribution to annual runoff. Areas of reduced runoff depth are mainly concentrated in the southeast, driven by decreased precipitation, while decreased runoff depth in the northwest is mainly driven by increased evaporation.

Elham Rafiei Sardooi et al.

Summary: Accurate modeling of landslide risk is crucial for the development of effective strategies, and a hybrid model utilizing data mining and multi-criteria decision-making methods has been applied in Golestan Province, Iran. Machine learning algorithms were used to map landslide probability, which indicated a strong correlation with human-environmental factors in the region. The results provide insights for quantitative modeling of landslide risk and priority planning for landslide risk management.
