Effects of activation energy and chemical reaction on unsteady MHD dissipative Darcy-Forchheimer squeezed flow of Casson fluid over horizontal channel

Shuguang Li et al.

Summary: The impact of chemical reaction and activation energy is crucial in analyzing the fluid dynamics and thermal properties. The application of fluid flow is widely considered in various fields such as nuclear reactors, automobiles, manufacturing setups, and electronic appliances. In this study, the effects of activation energy and chemical reaction on the magnetohydrodynamic Darcy-Forchheimer squeezed Casson fluid flow through a porous material in a horizontal channel are investigated. Using similarity variables, partial differential equations are converted to ordinary differential equations. The numerical method using MATLAB is employed to solve the problems and obtain data on velocity field, thermal distribution, and concentration distribution. The results indicate that as the plates are brought closer, both the fluid velocity and temperature increase. Moreover, an increase in the Hartmann number leads to a decrease in fluid velocity due to the presence of strong Lorentz forces. The liquid's temperature and concentration increase due to Brownian motion. When both the Darcy-Forchheimer and activation energy parameters are increased, the velocity and concentration decrease.

Unified neural output-constrained control for space manipulator using tan-type barrier Lyapunov function

Hadi Jahanshahi et al.

Summary: A unified neural control scheme is developed for output-constrained trajectory tracking of space manipulator under unknown parameters and external perturbations. The proposed controller integrates backstepping control, neural network, and tan-type barrier Lyapunov function. The neural network is utilized for identifying the unknown part in the dynamic model, making the controller model-free and robust to external disturbances. The tan-type barrier Lyapunov function ensures that position tracking errors do not exceed predefined constraints. The closed-loop system achieves semiglobal uniform ultimate boundedness, and all error variables eventually stabilize around zero. Simulations and comparisons verify the effectiveness and tracking performance of the proposed control scheme.

Double diffusion effect on the bio-convective magnetized flow of tangent hyperbolic liquid by a stretched nano-material with Arrhenius Catalysts

Yu-Ming Chu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of double diffusion, activation energy, Brownian motion, thermal radiation, thermophoresis, viscous dissipation, magnetic field, and Joule heating on bioconvection of a tangent hyperbolic nanofluid flow over a vertical stretching porous surface containing microbe. The fluid transport equations are solved using the finite difference method and the effects of key parameters on the fluid's transport properties are depicted in graphs and tables. It is observed that higher dimensionless activation energy leads to a decrease in mass transfer rate at the stretched nanomaterial sheet, and the concentration of the nanofluid near the sheet decreases with an increase in the porosity parameter value, but the opposite behavior is observed far from the sheet.

Summary: This paper addresses the problem of scheduling jobs on uniform parallel batch machines with different capacities, where jobs have equal lengths and arbitrary sizes. The goal is to minimize the makespan, while ensuring that each machine can only process jobs within its capacity. The paper presents efficient exact algorithms under a divisibility constraint and a 2-approximation algorithm for the general problem. Previous research has shown that it is not possible to achieve a better approximation ratio than 2 unless P = NP, even when all machines have identical speeds and capacities.

Numerical study of simultaneous transport of heat and mass transfer in Maxwell hybrid nanofluid in the presence of Soret and Dufour effects

U. Arif et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of copper and a combination of copper and aluminum oxide on the simultaneous transfer of heat and mass in sodium alginate liquid over a circular pipe. Numerical simulations show that the velocity of Cu/sodium alginate is higher than Cu-Al2O3/sodium alginate, leading to greater distortion of magnetic lines. Additionally, the thermal conductivity of sodium alginate increases more significantly when both copper and aluminum oxide are dispersed simultaneously, recommending this method for maximum heat transfer.
