Synergy between an emerging monopartite begomovirus and a DNA-B component

Summary: In recent decades, a monopartite begomovirus transmitted by the whitefly Bemisia tabaci has emerged as a serious threat to vegetable crops in Africa. A recent study in Burkina Faso reported the association of the virus with a previously unknown DNA-B component, which contributes to more severe symptoms and increased virulence.
