Organized violence 1989-2022, and the return of conflict between states

Summary: This article highlights an alarming increase in fatalities from organized violence in 2022, reaching the highest number since the Rwandan genocide. The major contributors to this increase were the Russia-Ukraine war and the war in Ethiopia against TPLF. It is concerning to see a trend of intensified conflict between states and the involvement of major powers in supporting opposing sides in intrastate conflicts.
