An insight to the role of perchlorate counter ions and different non-covalent interactions in the solid state structures of mono-anionic malonic acid bridged trinuclear mixed valence cationic complexes of cobalt with tetradentate N2O2 donor ligands

Sudip Bhunia et al.

Summary: Two linear mixed-valence trinuclear centrosymmetric cobalt(III)-cobalt(II)-cobalt(III) complexes have been synthesized and their solid state structures have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The supra-molecular assemblies observed in the solid state structures have been analyzed using DFT calculations, focusing on CH3...pi and Cl...Cl interactions.

Biological Properties of Transition Metal Complexes with Metformin and Its Analogues

Daniil A. Rusanov et al.

Summary: Metformin is a widely used drug for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and it has diverse biological properties such as anticancer and antimicrobial activities. Recent studies have shown that the mechanism of action of metformin is linked to its binding to metals. Coordination of metformin to metal centers improves the pharmacological profile of the drug and allows for selective activation of prodrugs and reduced off-target toxicity.

An unusual mixed-valence cobalt dimer as a catalyst for the anti-Markovnikov hydrophosphination of alkynes

Pardeep Kumar et al.

Summary: In this study, a unique binuclear cobalt complex was isolated by reacting ICo(PMe3)(4)] with a redox-active NNN pincer ligand. The complex consists of a three-electron reduced ligand in an unusual coordination mode. The complex efficiently catalyzes the hydrophosphination of alkynes and produces the anti-Markovnikov product in good to excellent yields.

Summary: Metformin forms stable complexes with copper ions, leading to enhanced antiproliferative effect in cancer cells. It reduces cell number and viability in SW1222 and K562 cells, as well as in K562-200 multidrug-resistant cells. Additionally, metformin has been noted to have lower cancer incidence in diabetic patients.
