Rice Drying, Storage and Processing: Effects of Post-Harvest Operations on Grain Quality

Amanda Muller et al.

Summary: The post-harvest processes of rice can significantly affect its grain quality, with microwave drying being a favorable alternative. Proper storage conditions, such as maintaining humidity and temperature balance, are important for preserving grain quality. The different processing methods also have an impact on the nutritional value of rice.

Drying characteristics and quality of Stevia rebaudiana leaves by far-infrared radiation

Xiaopeng Huang et al.

Summary: Far-infrared drying technology can better retain the glycoside content in Stevia rebaudiana leaves and improve the quality of dried products. The study found that drying temperature has a significant impact on the active ingredients of the samples, with an increase from 45 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius resulting in an increase in certain active component content.

Evaluating the fluidized-bed drying of rice using response surface methodology and artificial neural network

Sara Nanvakenari et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different fluidization regimes and temperatures of a fluidized bed dryer on rice drying time and quality properties. The experiments found that a fluidized bed dryer with ventilation significantly improved head rice yield and whiteness index compared to a dryer without ventilation. Optimization using response surface methodology resulted in the best drying conditions for both lowest drying time and highest quality parameters.

Study on the drying characteristics of rice by microwave and hot air drying

Fangqing Ling et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of microwave drying and hot air drying of rice, finding that microwave drying has a better and faster heating effect on rice, with the drying efficiency in the first 20 minutes being better than the last 20 minutes.
