Physical Fitness as a Predictor of Performance during Competition in Professional Women's Basketball Players

Sergio J. Ibanez et al.

Summary: The evaluation of physical fitness is becoming more important in team sports training. This study aimed to characterize physical fitness and game indicators based on game position. The results showed that the level of physical fitness was related to technical-tactical contribution and varied during different times of the season. There were no differences in skills and game indicators based on game position.

Monitoring Internal Load in Women's Basketball via Subjective and Device-Based Methods: A Systematic Review

Javier Espasa-Labrador et al.

Summary: This systematic review examines the methods and variables used to measure internal load in female basketball, finding that subjective methods like rating of perceived exertion (RPE) and sensor-based methods like heart rate monitoring are commonly used. However, the lack of standardization in metrics and methods results in significant heterogeneity among studies.

Fluctuations in External Peak Demands Across Quarters During Basketball Games

Enrique Alonso Perez-Chao et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to compare external peak demands across quarters in basketball. The results showed that running-based demands (distance, player load, and high-speed running) decrease across basketball games, with the most notable declines occurring between the first and fourth quarters. However, non-significant differences were found between quarters for several other demand variables (jogging, running, acceleration, and deceleration) across different time windows.

External and Internal Load Variables Encountered During Training and Games in Female Basketball Players According to Playing Level and Playing Position: A Systematic Review

Cody J. Power et al.

Summary: Despite the increasing participation of females in basketball and numerous studies conducted on the subject, there is a lack of research summarizing the external and internal load variables encountered by female basketball players during training and games. This systematic review aims to collate existing literature investigating these load variables in female basketball players according to playing level and position. The results indicate inconsistencies in the methods utilized across studies, highlighting the need for standardized approaches in future research.
