Using Artificial Neural Network Application in Modeling the Mechanical Properties of Loading Position and Storage Duration of Pear Fruit

Elcin Yesiloglu Cevher et al.

Summary: In this study, artificial neural network (ANN) was used to predict rupture energy values of Deveci and Abate Fetel pear fruits, aiming to develop a simple and accurate model for predicting the rupture energy of these pears. Results showed the best performing model had a network structure of 5-1, with three inputs and the highest R-2 value as well as the lowest root square error and mean absolute error.

An extended finite element model for fracture mechanical response of tomato fruit

Dongdong Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the fracture mechanical response of tomato fruit under postharvest mechanical compression using an XFEM model, which accurately simulated the compression force-deformation behavior and crack propagation of the fruit. The elastic modulus, Poisson's ratio, failure stress, and fracture energy of the fruit tissues significantly influenced the propagation length of the crack in the fruit model.
