What Is Machine Learning, Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning?-Examples of Practical Applications in Medicine

Jakub Kufel et al.

Summary: Machine learning, artificial neural networks, and deep learning, which are all part of artificial intelligence, have become increasingly popular in recent years. Machine learning involves automated decision-making using trained models rather than manual programming. Artificial neural networks aim to simulate the structure and function of the human brain, while deep learning uses interconnected layers of neurons to process complex databases. These techniques have promising applications in medicine for improving disease diagnosis and treatment. Further research is needed to fully explore their potential and bring them into clinical use.

Application of artificial intelligence in diagnosing COVID-19 disease symptoms on chest X-rays: A review

Jakub Kufel et al.

Summary: This systematic review examines the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in conjunction with X-ray images to detect COVID-19 infection. Six qualified studies were identified after searching three databases. The sensitivity ranged from 72.59% to 100%, specificity ranged from 79% to 99.9%. The conclusion suggests that AI computational models should have high sensitivity and specificity, with repeatable results and performance to enhance their reliability in clinical settings.
