Investigation of diffusivity in nanometer-thick yttria-stabilized zirconia by chronoamperometry and its formalism

Jorge Luis Vazquez-Arce et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates the use of chronoamperometry as a valuable tool for determining diffusivities in all-solid-state nanometer-thick cells. The transient current in electrochemical cells under constant voltage is described using RC circuit equations for purely capacitive processes and Cottrell's equations for purely diffusive processes. The study focuses on Metal/Insulator/Metal nano-cells with Ru and Au electrodes and YSZ electrolyte, and shows that the diffusive and capacitive contributions at different temperatures follow the Arrhenius law. The analysis also explores other parameters such as capacitance, effective concentration, and leakage current, and compares experimental diffusivity values with those obtained by the statistical moment method.

Trade-Off Between Data Retention and Switching Speed in Resistive Switching ReRAM Devices

Sebastian Siegel et al.

Summary: Introducing retention enhancement oxide layers into the memristive stack can reduce switching speed by changing voltage and temperature distribution in the cell and influencing the rate-limiting step of switching kinetics. This trade-off between retention and switching speed is important for the rational engineering of memristive devices.

A New Perspective Towards the Understanding of the Frequency-Dependent Behavior of Memristive Devices

M. Maestro-Izquierdo et al.

Summary: According to Prof. Chua's theoretical prediction, the input signal frequency significantly affects the electrical behavior of memristors. The resistive window, the difference between low and high resistance states, shrinks as frequency increases. Additionally, the resistive window increases with signal amplitude.

Switching Dynamics of Ag-Based Filamentary Volatile Resistive Switching Devices-Part II: Mechanism and Modeling

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: Understanding the switching and retention processes of the Ag-based metallic filamentary volatile resistive switching devices is crucial for optimizing their performance. The study reveals that the switching process can be modeled by ionic drift under electric field, while the retention process can be modeled by ionic diffusion along the filament surface driven by the gradient of surface atomic concentration. Further theoretical analysis unifies ionic drift and diffusion within the general Einstein relation, and the read voltage dependent retention time is explained by the competition between ionic drift and diffusion flux.
