Improved Hybrid Method for the Generation of Ground Motions Compatible with the Multi-Damping Design Spectra

Jianbo Li et al.

Summary: An improved hybrid method for constructing a multi-parameter adjustment curve in the time domain is proposed in this paper to generate artificial ground motions that are highly compatible with multi-damping design spectra. The method combines the advantages of the simulated annealing algorithm (SAA) and the time domain adjustment method, and uses SAA to determine the optimal weights of the corrective time histories and adjust the artificial ground motion in the time domain to reduce the fitting error. The method also simplifies the multi-damping design spectra matching problem.

3D physics-based seismic shaking scenarios for city of Zagreb, Capital of Croatia

Helena Latecki et al.

Summary: This study assesses ground shaking in the wider Zagreb area through simulated seismograms at regional distances, comparing results from different models and methods. It validates the accuracy of the results by comparing simulated data with recorded seismograms, and conducts a preliminary study to determine the most probable seismic source of the historic 1880 earthquake by comparing ground motion features and intensities.

Evaluating the seismic hazard to Sikkim region of Himalaya using simulated accelerograms

Renu Yadav et al.

Summary: The study examines the impact of the 2011 Sikkim earthquake in the Himalaya region, emphasizing that even moderate-sized earthquakes can lead to severe damage. Through simulated accelerograms, the researchers generated hazard maps to evaluate the seismic risk in the Sikkim region, providing insights into the potential damage caused by future earthquakes.

Estimation of site response functions for the central seismic gap of Himalaya, India

Anjali Sharma et al.

Summary: Site response functions are crucial in analyzing seismic hazards of a particular region, and this study assessed them for the central seismic gap region in the Himalayas. The importance of seismic hazard analysis and estimated values are highlighted, showing correlations between site response functions and station geology. The calculated site response functions are useful for various studies such as simulating strong ground motions and evaluating earthquake source parameters.
