Optically Coherent Nitrogen-Vacancy Defect Centers in Diamond Nanostructures

Laura Orphal-Kobin et al.

Summary: Optically active spin defects in solid-state materials, such as NV centers in diamond, have potential applications in quantum information processing. However, the presence of spectral diffusion in diamond nanostructures can lead to optical decoherence and hinder entanglement generation. In this study, we present strategies to reduce electric noise in diamond nanostructures, demonstrate long-term spectral stability, and propose an entanglement protocol for nanostructure-coupled NVs with high generation rates.

Deterministic three-photon down-conversion by a passive ultrastrong cavity-QED system

Kazuki Koshino et al.

Summary: In this paper, the authors theoretically analyze the optical response of an ultrastrong cavity-QED system and report the possibility of deterministic three-photon down-conversion in the cavity. This rare event involving fourth-order transitions can be achieved even with a weak field due to the unprecedented strong-coupling region of the atom-cavity system.
