Regeneration of Plants from Alginate-encapsulated Shoot Tips of Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.)

Dicle Donmez

Summary: This study focuses on the in vitro conservation of Myrtle by encapsulating regenerated shoot tips. Synthetic seed production and subsequent conversion of encapsulated shoot tips into plantlets were successful. The genetic stability of the plants was confirmed through genetic marker analysis.

Fruit Quality Characters of Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) Selections: Review of a Domestication Process

Silvia Medda et al.

Summary: Interest in myrtle by various industries has led to the integration of biomass harvested from wild populations with yields of cultivated orchards for use in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The domestication process involved analyzing wild germplasm variability, conducting agamic propagation tests, and evaluating fruit and leaves. The study also involved comparing different populations for shoot, leaves, and fruit characters to assess the impact of domestication on these traits.
