Impact of Dispersion Force Schemes on Liquid Systems: Comparing Efficiency and Drawbacks for Well-Targeted Test Cases

Evelyne Martin et al.

Summary: In this study, first-principles molecular dynamics calculations were performed to investigate the structural properties and the impact of dispersion (van der Waals, vdW) forces on liquid GeSe4. Different expressions for the dispersion forces were employed and compared, revealing notable differences in real space and unexpected sharp increases in the structure factor at low k values with the D3 vdW scheme. Furthermore, evidence of unconventional structural properties found by employing the D3 scheme was presented by studying a complex ionic liquid supported on a solid surface.

Mixed-Sandwich Titanium(III) Qubits on Au(111): Electron Delocalization Ruled by Molecular Packing

Matteo Briganti et al.

Summary: In this study, the structural and chemical properties of [CpTi(cot)] on Au(111) were investigated using experimental and computational methods. It was found that the adsorbed molecules have two orientations, with the standing ones experiencing charge delocalization towards the surface. This orientation-dependent molecule-surface hybridization opens up possibilities for selective control of molecule-substrate spin delocalization in hybrid interfaces.

Increasing the Hilbert space dimension using a single coupled molecular spin

Hugo Biard et al.

Summary: Quantum technologies are expected to revolutionize information processing, with multi-level quantum systems showing promise in expanding information storage capacity. Researchers have successfully demonstrated the electronic read-out of a coupled molecular multi-level quantum system with a 16-dimensional Hilbert space.
