Summary: Graphene oxide (GO) was initially developed as a graphene mimic, but has since been recognized as a functional material with its own unique properties. Research on GO in the past decade has greatly advanced material synthesis and property tailoring, leading to rapid progress in GO-based photonics, electronics, and optoelectronics. This review provides an overview of the optical, electrical, and optoelectronic properties of GO and reduced GO, as well as their applications in key technologies such as solar energy harvesting, energy storage, medical diagnosis, image display, and optical communications. The challenges and exciting opportunities for future technological advances in this field are also discussed.

Summary: Combination therapy involving anticancer drugs and gene therapy agents has been proven effective in treating different types of cancer. In this study, a modified strategy was developed to enhance the use of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as a carrier for delivering drugs and nucleotides. The newly designed copolymer allowed for the conjugation of a targeting peptide and the loading of hydrophobic drugs, resulting in a multifunctional nanoplatform with controlled drug release and high transfection efficiency. The experiments demonstrated the potential of this nanoplatform in selectively delivering different cargoes to tumor sites.

Summary: In this study, ZnO nanorods were successfully synthesized using the microwave-assisted technique. Zn1-xAgxO (x = 0.05, 0.1) was prepared using the solid-state reaction method, while graphene oxide (GO) was prepared using Hummer's modified method. The nanorods and nanocomposites were characterized using various techniques, and it was found that the nanocomposites exhibited improved antibacterial activity compared to pure ZnO nanorods.

Summary: By adjusting the annealing temperature, the density of oxygen-containing functional groups and the structural domain size of PRGO film are controlled. The temperature dependency of thermal and electrical transport is studied, and a linear relationship between thermal diffusivity and electrical conductivity is confirmed. The effect of structure domain size on the thermal and electrical transport of PRGO is revealed.

Summary: Graphene and its derivatives have been explored for potential applications in the food processing industry, particularly in packaging and electrochemical sensing. However, there is still untapped potential in the fields of analytics, milk and beverage technology. This study provides a comprehensive review of graphene derivatives in the food industry, highlighting their distinctive properties and specific applications in bio-composites, packaging, detection of pesticides and antinutrients, desalination, water treatment, extraction, and tailored milk production. Further research is needed to understand migration behavior and develop simplified methods for prevention, but graphene shows promise for various aspects of food production.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between oxygen group and band gap in reduced graphene oxide (RGO). The results show that the reduction of oxygen group strongly depends on the annealing temperature, leading to a nonlinear variable band gap. The nonlinear photoelectric response of RGO light detective device further confirms this trend. Our work provides a pathway for the application of RGO in electronic fields.

Summary: In this study, pristine reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was used to remove cationic pollutants from water, such as methylene blue and mercury ions. The pristine rGO showed high adsorption capacity and short adsorption time, and exhibited a mixed physisorption-chemisorption process. These findings provide a new perspective for the removal of cationic pollutants using oxidized graphene materials.
