Hot deformation behavior, dynamic recrystallization mechanism and processing maps of Ti-V microalloyed high strength steel

Ke Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the hot deformation behavior and dynamic recrystallization mechanism of Ti-V complex microalloyed high strength steel at different temperatures and strain rates. The results show that the flow stress curves exhibit dynamic recrystallization behavior at certain temperature and strain rate conditions, and the peak stress gradually decreases with increasing temperature and decreasing strain rate. The study also calculates the hot deformation activation energy of the Ti-V microalloyed steel and presents thermal processing maps.

Hot deformation and dynamic recrystallization behavior of a Cu-9Ni-6Sn-0.04Cr alloy

Tao Song et al.

Summary: The hot deformation behavior of Cu-9Ni-6Sn-0.04Cr alloy was investigated through isothermal compression tests. The activation energy of Cu-9Ni-6Sn-0.04Cr alloy was determined to be 218 kJ/mol using the Arrhenius equation. The established constitutive equation accurately predicted the flow stresses of the alloy. The study also identified the main softening mechanism as dynamic recrystallization, with continuous dynamic recrystallization being dominant in high Z value condition and both continuous and discontinuous dynamic recrystallization in middle and low Z value conditions.

Hot deformation behavior of 309L stainless steel

Yaohui Song et al.

Summary: Hot compression tests were conducted on 309 L austenitic stainless steel at different deformation temperatures and strain rates. Three constitutive models were constructed and the Strain Compensation Arrhenius showed the highest accuracy. Activation energy maps and power dissipation maps were generated to analyze the behavior of the steel under different strains. The microstructure analysis provided insights into the optimal hot working range and instability region.

A review of hot deformation behavior and constitutive models to predict flow stress of high-entropy alloys

Zeinab Savaedi et al.

Summary: This review article provides an overview of the hot deformation behavior and constitutive description of flow stress in high entropy alloys (HEAs). The potential of hot working for grain refinement, reduction of casting defects, and enhancement of mechanical properties of HEAs is explained. The effects of processing parameters, alloying elements, dynamic precipitation, and the presence of phases on the hot deformation behavior and restoration processes are discussed. The application of processing maps for characterizing flow instability, cracking, flow softening, and dynamic recrystallization during hot forming of HEAs is presented. Various constitutive models and methods for flow stress modeling and flow curve prediction are assessed. Suggestions for future research works are proposed.

Omnipresent instability criterion of birefringent Kundu-Eckhaus model with nonic nonlinearity

P. Mohanraj et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the dynamics of ultra-short pulse propagation under the nonlinear birefringent Kundu-Eckhaus (KE) model, and studies the role of cubic-nonic nonlinearity on modulational instability (MI) gain spectra in the KE fiber system. The results show that the impact of nonic nonlinearity is more prominent than its cubic-quintic counterpart, and the MI gain profile can be adjusted by the rate of self-phase modulation (SPM).

Review on Dynamic Recrystallization of Martensitic Stainless Steels during Hot Deformation: Part I-Experimental Study

Hamed Aghajani Derazkola et al.

Summary: This review discusses the evolution of microstructure and mechanical behavior of high-chromium content stainless steels during hot deformation, highlighting the process of continuous dynamic recrystallization and the formation of new ultrafine grains regardless of stacking fault energies. Limited understanding of flow stress and microstructure changes during hot forming of martensitic stainless steels is noted, emphasizing the need for further research in this area. Recent studies have explored the relationship between microstructural changes and mechanical properties under thermomechanical conditions, shedding light on the dynamic recrystallization behavior of this type of steel during the deformation phase.

Summary: In this study, the hot deformation behavior of 30Cr4MoNiV ultra-high-strength steel was investigated through isothermal compression tests, establishing a constitutive equation and processing maps suitable for this steel. The combination of hyperbolic sine function and Zener-Hollomon parameter accurately represented the influences of deformation conditions on flow stress, while plastic instability criteria were analyzed for optimizing processing in stable regions.
