Determination and prediction of the available energy and amino acids digestibility of full-fat soybean fed to growing pigs

Li Wang et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the energy concentration and amino acids digestibility of full-fat soybean and established prediction equations. The results showed that full-fat soybean is a high-quality protein ingredient with high digestibility of amino acids. The metabolizable energy of full-fat soybean can be predicted based on its ether extract and trypsin inhibitor contents.

Effects of feeding levels on ileal amino acid digestibility of extruded full fat soybeans in nongestating sows

Ya Wang et al.

Summary: The effect of feeding levels on amino acid digestibility of extruded full fat soybeans (EFSB) fed to nongestating sows was investigated. Results showed that different feeding levels had no impact on the digestibility of amino acids, but did affect the loss of endogenous amino acids.

Comparison of endogenous amino acid losses in broilers when offered nitrogen-free diets with differing ratios of dextrose to corn starch

Huajin Zhou et al.

Summary: The optimal ratio of glucose and corn starch in a nitrogen-free diet (NFD) was investigated to simulate the normal intestinal physiology of broiler chickens and improve the accuracy of ileal endogenous amino acids (IEAAs) determination. Higher ratios of D/CS in NFD increased IEAAs by promoting digestive enzymes and mucin secretion. However, an excessive proportion of starch in NFD was not suitable for chicken digestion. The ratio of D/CS at 0.33 in NFD was found to be more appropriate for detecting IEAAs in broiler chickens.

The nutritive value of soybean meal from different sources for sows during mid- and late gestation

Ke Wang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the nutritive value of soybean meal (SBM) from different sources for mid- and late-gestating sows and generated prediction equations for digestible energy (DE) and metabolizable energy (ME) values. The results showed no differences in DE and ME values in SBMs from different sources when fed to sows during mid- and late-gestation. ME, ME:DE ratio, and nitrogen (N) net utilization values were higher in late-gestating sows compared to mid-gestating sows.

Methodologies for energy evaluation of pig and poultry feeds: A review

Jean Noblet et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the methods for evaluating the energy content of feed for monogastric animals, with a focus on net energy (NE). Energy digestibility in pigs and poultry depends on feed characteristics, technology, and animal factors. The concept of adjusted metabolisable energy (ME) and true ME (TME) were developed for poultry. Evaluating dietary NE is more complex and depends on various factors. Standardised NE values can be used to calculate NE prediction equations for ingredients and compound feeds.

Chemical composition, energy content, and amino acid digestibility in Cyperus esculentus co-products fed to growing pigs

Lu Wang et al.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the chemical composition, energy content, and digestibility of amino acids in Cyperus esculentus co-products fed to growing pigs. Results showed that the different C. esculentus co-products varied greatly in terms of their nutrient composition and digestibility, with EPCC being the most suitable feedstuff for growing pigs based on energy content and amino acid digestibility.

Vitamin retention during the canning of swordfish (Xiphias gladius) with different filling media

N. Cobas et al.

Summary: Swordfish is an economically and nutritionally important fish. The canning process led to loss of some vitamins, particularly vitamin D-3 and B-9, but the vitamin E content increased due to the frying and filling oils. The study findings may contribute to increasing knowledge about how processing, storage, and the filling medium influence the composition of canned fish.
