Genome-wide association analysis of nine reproduction and morphological traits in three goat breeds from Southern China

Xiaoyan Sun et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and genes associated with nine reproduction and morphological traits in three breed populations of Chinese goats. The genome-wide association analysis revealed 17 significant SNPs associated with reproduction and morphological traits in three Chinese goat breeds. The identified SNPs and candidate genes provide valuable insights into the genetic mechanisms underlying important traits and potential applications in goat breeding.

Genome-Wide Association Study of Body Conformation Traits by Whole Genome Sequencing in Dazu Black Goats

Bowen Gu et al.

Summary: This study conducted a genome-wide association study on a Chinese indigenous goat breed, Dazu black goats, to identify the genetic variants associated with body conformation traits. A total of 53 significant single nucleotide polymorphisms and 42 candidate genes were detected. These findings have practical applications for genetic improvement and economic benefits in the goat meat industry.

Estimation of genetic parameters for early reproduction traits in Beetal goat

Yogesh C. Bangar et al.

Summary: The evaluation of early reproduction traits in Beetal goat revealed the influence of genetic and non-genetic factors on these traits, with only the period of birth showing significant effects. The direct heritability of the targeted traits was found to be low, suggesting the need for improved management practices to enhance reproductive efficiency in Beetal goat.

Genome-wide association study reveals novel candidate genes for litter size in Markhoz goats

Peyman Mahmoudi et al.

Summary: The Markhoz goat, a breed known for its high-quality mohair, has experienced a significant decline in population size in Iran due to decreased income from goat production. This study aimed to identify genomic regions associated with litter size at birth (LSB) and weaning (LSW) in Markhoz goats using a genome-wide association study (GWAS). The results identified several SNPs on chromosomes 2, 20, and 21 that were significantly associated with LSB, and six candidate genes in the identified region were also identified.

Summary: This study aimed to identify genomic regions influencing growth and body conformation traits among Punjab goat breeds by performing GWAS using 50K SNP Chip. We identified a number of highly significant SNPs and candidate genes associated with growth and body conformation traits, indicating their potential role in body growth. Pleiotropic effects were also observed for some SNPs for body weight and conformation traits.

Comparative and selection sweep analysis of CNV was associated to litter size in Dazu black goats

E. Guang-Xin et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the CNV associated with litter size in Dazu black goats based on unpublished sequencing data. CBLB gene was found to potentially affect litter size, with Chr1_50215501 identified as an effective genetic marker for marker-assisted selection breeding. The study helps understand the molecular mechanisms related to goat litter size.

Activation of FGFR2 Signaling Suppresses BRCA1 and Drives Triple-Negative Mammary Tumorigenesis That is Sensitive to Immunotherapy

Josh Haipeng Lei et al.

Summary: Activation of FGFR2 signaling may play a crucial role in breast cancer formation, as demonstrated in a mouse model bearing an activation mutation of FGFR2. FGFR2-S252W drives the development of triple-negative breast cancer by suppressing BRCA1 and positively regulating PD-L1, while a combination of FGFR2 inhibition and immune checkpoint blockade shows promising results in killing cancer cells. These mouse models mimic human breast cancers, providing a valuable tool for identifying actionable therapeutic targets.
