miR-200c increases the sensitivity of breast cancer cells to Doxorubicin through downregulating MDR1 gene

Sahar Safaei et al.

Summary: This paper examines the effect of miR-200c on enhancing the sensitivity of BC cells to Doxorubicin. The results show that miR-200c expression is downregulated in BC cells, and transfecting miR-200c can reduce cell viability and increase sensitivity to Doxorubicin by downregulating MDR1 gene expression. Therefore, miR-200c could be considered as a therapeutic method for the treatment of BC.

MicroRNA-124 inhibits canine mammary carcinoma cell proliferation, migration and invasion by targeting CDH2

Xiaoli Ren et al.

Summary: This study found that miR-124 is down-regulated in canine mammary carcinoma (CMC) and is associated with histological grade and tumor metastasis. The experimental results also showed that miR-124 regulates tumor cell proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by suppressing the expression of CDH2. These findings may provide potential therapeutic targets and strategies for the treatment of canine mammary carcinoma.

A promising effect of zerumbone with improved anti-tumor-promoting inflammation activity of miR-34a in colorectal cancer cell lines

Razieh Dehghan et al.

Summary: The cross-talk between inflammation and colorectal cancer cells is mainly mediated by a complex of cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors. MicroRNA, particularly miR-34a, plays a vital role in regulating tumor suppression. Combination therapy using miRNA-based agents and chemotherapeutic drugs has been shown to increase drug sensitivity and enhance the antitumor effect. The anti-inflammatory activity of Zerumbone (ZER) has been investigated in various cancers, showing significant suppression of inflammatory cytokines. The combination of miR-34a and ZER demonstrated promising results in inhibiting cytokine expression and reducing migration and proliferation of CRC cells. Additionally, a compensatory effect between different therapeutic agents was observed in cases of drug resistance.

Summary: The study identified miR-181a/b as significantly down-regulated in drug-resistant melanoma patients and cell lines, with re-establishment reversing resistance to BRAF inhibitors. Introduction of miR-181 mimics decreased TFAM expression in resistant melanoma cells. Overall, miR-181a/b could reverse resistance to BRAF inhibitors and were down-regulated in tumor samples. Melanoma tissues with high miR-181a/b expression had favorable outcomes, suggesting their potential use as biomarkers for therapy selection.
