The www of Xenopus laevis Oocytes: The Why, When, What of Xenopus laevis Oocytes in Membrane Transporters Research

Manan Bhatt et al.

Summary: The heterologous expression of proteins in Xenopus laevis oocytes remains essential in many research fields. New approaches and revised protocols are applied to study membrane transporters, and both new and classic methods for investigating the activity and expression of Solute Carriers (SLC) are reviewed.

Structural snapshots of human PepT1 and PepT2 reveal mechanistic insights into substrate and drug transport across epithelial membranes

Maxime Killer et al.

Summary: The uptake of peptides in mammals is crucial for nutrition and inflammatory diseases, which is mediated by transporters in solute carrier family 15. The structures of human PepT1 and PepT2 captured in different states provide insights into substrate recognition and conformational transitions during transport, supporting future drug design efforts to enhance bioavailability in the human body.

AutoDock Vina 1.2.0: New Docking Methods, Expanded Force Field, and Python Bindings

Jerome Eberhardt et al.

Summary: AutoDock Vina is a widely used open-source program for molecular docking with new features such as support for macrocycles and explicit water molecules. The latest version also includes support for AutoDock4.2 scoring function, simultaneous docking of multiple ligands, and a batch mode for docking a large number of ligands. Python bindings have been implemented to facilitate scripting and workflow development.

A full factorial design to investigate interactions of variable essential amino acids, trace minerals and vitamins on Atlantic salmon smoltification and post transfer performance

Katerina Kousoulaki et al.

Summary: This study found that simultaneous increase in dietary levels of methionine, lysine, threonine, and arginine can significantly improve post-smoltification growth in Atlantic salmon (5% increase in body weight). High levels of dietary vitamin supplementation had a significantly negative impact on post-transfer growth and survival of the fish (22.5% decrease in body weight growth and 2.6 times higher mortality), while this effect was not present in treatments with high trace mineral and vitamin supplementation levels simultaneously (8% increase in body weight and 2.8 times lower mortality). Improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) was observed in high trace mineral supplemented dietary treatments (8.5%), with further enhancement in performance seen in treatments with simultaneous high essential amino acid and trace mineral supplementation levels (12.6% higher body growth increase).
